• 6.0 - MONITORING PROGRAM
6.1 Stability Monitoring
As shown on Drawing No. MG-R-C-001, a total of 4 open tube
piezometers will be installed during the initial stages of the
construction. Piezometers P-1 and P-4 will be installed at the
beginning of construction operation. These piezometers will be
utilized to monitor for water level on a quarterly basis. The
piezometers will be installed in both the refuse material and
colluvium. A piezometer will consist of four inch diameter PVC
' pipe, perforated at the bottom. A typical installation detail
has been presented in the previously submitted application (p.
~ • 56).
In addition to piezometers, it is planned to install surface
monuments which will be located downslope of the refuse pile
area. The locations of these monuments are shown on Drawing
No. MG-R-C-001. The monuments will consist of driving steel
rods to a sufficient depth so that they will remain. stable with
the surface soils. A survey record will be kept as to their
horizontal location and elevation. Measurements will initially
be taken on a monthly basis during the spring and summer months
and frequency of measurements will be adjusted based upon the
observations and the pile construction.
•
-26-
