channels will have the same section as the perimeter chan-
nels. These channels will also be riprapped with the same
size of riprap as the perimeter drainage channels.
4.8 Outlet Pipe
The surface run-off from the refuse area will eventually flow
into the existing runoff pond MBlI1 via the existing north
collection channel. To mitigate overloading of the piping to
the pond, it is planned to construct control structures on
both the east and the west end of these channels just below
the confluence of perimeter channels and existing channel.
These control structures will overflow when the 10 year, 24-
hour precipitation is exceeded. For safe passage to the pond
of the peak discharges up to the 10 year, 24-hour storm, a
half-section 36 inch diameter corrugated metal pipe will be
installed as shown previously {1). This pipe will carry the
flow into the piping to Pond MBlll. Hydraulic computations
for this system are presented in Appendix A. At the en-
trance, a full section of 36 inch diameter pipe will be
connected to provide a transition from the collection channel
to half section. This transition will allow the flow to
transfer from subcritical to supercritical.
•
I7
