• toxic forming rock such as sandstone. Sandstone obtained
from the access road excavation will be utilized if it meets
gradation criteria as presented below.
Sieve Size Percent Passing
24 inch 100
18 inch 80-100
12 inch 40-60
9 inch 20-40
6 inch 10-25
3 inch 0-15
The perimeter collection channels to be extended as the pile
advances will follow the existing ground surface grade which
ranges from 5 to 15 percent.
Initially, a temporary collection channel will be constructed
above (south) of the refuse pile limit at bench 1 (elevation
6710 feet) to provide sufficient working area. The channel
will have a side slope of 4H:1V on the north side and 2H:1V
on the south side and have an east-west slope of one percent
minimum. This channel will collect runoff from the pile and
undisturbed area north of the permanent diversion channel.
It is planned to convert this initial temporary collection
channel into a longitudinal rock underdrain when the pile
advances.
U
- g
