It should be noted that due to the absence of certain <br />environmental values within the Southfield permit area, and as a result <br />of the nature and scope of planned mining and related operations, a number <br />of the special categories and the associated regulatory requirements are <br />not applicable. The following are the special categories of mining <br />addressed by this section: <br />(1) Experimental Practices Mining <br />(2) Mountaintop Removal Mining <br />(3) Steep Slope Mining <br />(4) Variances From Approximate Original Contour Restoration <br />Requirements for Steep Slope Mining <br />(6) Prime Farmlands <br />(6) Variances for Delay in Contemporaneous Reclamation Requirements <br />in Combined Surface and Underground Mining Operations <br />(7) Surface Coal Mining Operations on Areas, or Adjacent to Areas, <br />Including Alluvial Valley Floors <br />(8) Angering <br />(9) Coal Processing Plants and Support Facilities Not Located Within <br />the Permit Area <br />(10) In-Situ Processing Activities <br />(11) Surface Coal Mining and Reclamation Operation Requirements <br />Involving the Removal of Coal Refuse Piles <br />Each of these categories and their specific applicability to the <br />Southfield operations are addressed in the following sections. <br />2.06-1 <br />
