AREA W14 (38.3 ACRES):
Location: All stockpiles and processing facilities on the east side of
the permitted land west of Academy Boulevard.
Condition: Contains a wide variety of equipment including wash plants,
clarifier, conveyocs, scale house, pit office building, fuel storage, etc.
Detailed labeling of the main features is included on a 191$ enlargement of
the large map and shown on the 11" x 17" photocopy. For measuring various
features it is recommended the large map be used and the 11" x 17" enlargement
only be referred to for orientation and identification purposes. This area
also contains the product stockpiles. Following are the descriptions of
individual features in this area. Some of these descriptions are keyed to the
item number in the November 1, 1991 letter and aze so noted.
Item 12 in November 1, 1991 letter: Powerlines and transformers: According
to information provided by Transit Mix Concrete, all powerlines and
transformers between the main supply line and the meters belong to the City of
Colorado Springs. Powerlines between the meters and the point of use belong
to Transit Mix, but the transformers apparently belong to the city. Recently,
a city inspector was sampling the transformers on site to determine the
composition of the various fluids. No information has been received by
Transit Mix from the city regarding the results of the sampling or exactly why
it was even conducted. It might be possible to find out more about this, but
at this point no more information than this can be provided. For all
practical purposes, without extensive and time consuming file research, most
of the power facilities belong to the city with only a small percentage
belonging to the company. Unfortunately the information needed to tell you
exactly who any pazticular power line belongs to is not readily available. In
most instances, electrical work is performed by an electrical contractor and
not by Transit Mix therefore the information you request is probably dispersed
among several sources. Powerlines and transformers that are associated with
this operation are in this AREA W19 and in AREA W12 which contains the batch
plant.
Item 15 in November 1, 1991 letter: Hazardous wastes:
Oil: Oil changes and lubrications occur on site on a concrete pad near
the clazifier tank. Oil is removed from the site under contract and is
recycled. Irwin Oil (1309 Park Ave., Canyon City, CO 81212) is the
contractor.
Solvents: A parts cleaner is on site and the solvents are managed under
contract by Safety-Kleen (2891 E. 97th St. Pueblo, CO 81001).
Antifreeze: One barrel of antifreeze is kept on site.
Storage location: All such materials are stored inside the pre-
fabricated concrete building adjacent to the clarifier.
Page 8 Bonding Information M-73-007/M-77-213 January 7, 1992
