AREA 4T/ (19.25 ACRES):

Location: Along the north side of the permitted land on the west side of
Academy Boulevard and immediately south of the former location of the sand
dike that separated this operation from the Castle Sand Pit. This is
essentially congruent with Area 1 in 1980 permitted area (i.e. the area that
was to be reclaimed over a number of years at 2-3 acres per year).
Condition: Former sediment basins consistent with original permitted
plan and part of the amended plan. Currently in use as a processing area,
although backfilling under original and amended plan has been completed.
Future Reclamation: Reduce surface elevation 9 to 8 feet and merge into
sediment basins to the north. Utilize cuttings to fill land to the south.
Current Reclamation: Scrape surface to remove gravels and/or rip
materials; revegetate.
Disturbance Reduction Program: Not included.
AREA WB (3.3 ACRES):
Location: Between the large stockpile/processing area (Area W19) and the
Batch Plant (Area W12).
Condition: This area is the primary location for storage of scrap metal,
equipment not currently in use, and various other junk. In essence, this area
is the operation's junk yard. However, some equipment stored on the southern
end of this area is actually owned by other parties. Transit Mix allows these
other parties to store their equipment, especially during the winter, under an
informal rental agreement. In the event the site needed to be reclaimed right
now, it is estimated that about 1/8 to 1/9 of the equipment at the site would
be removed by the owners of the equipment upon notification. The rest of the
material could be sold as useful processing equipurent or sold for salvage
value. Little of what is on this area would need to be disposed of in a
landfill. The site also contains old topsoil stockpiles (total volume = 2,285
~3)
Future Reclamation: Equipment and material on site would be removed.
The area would be graded and revegetated using existing material as a growth
medium. Topsoil on this azea would be used to the east of this azea to help
rehabilitate Area W19. Any remaining steep slopes on the east side of this
area would be graded into Area W19 after Area W19 had been backfilled to the
extent called for in the permit.
Current Reclamation: Essentially the same as future reclamation, except
that steep slope grading on the east side would need to be more extensive
because Area W19 would not be backfilled to the extent possible under the
existing permitted plan.
Disturbance Reduction Program: Not included.
AREA W9 (1.9 ACRES):
Location: Southwestern edge of operation near the Batch Plant.
Condition: Mostly undisturbed or only slightly disturbed. Vegetation
over most of the area in good condition with some reduction in cover where
recent disturbances occurred.
Future Reclamation: Regrade any poorly vegetated areas (as needed) and
revegetate.
Current Reclamation: Same as future reclamation.
Disturbance Reduction Program: Not included.
Page 6 Bonding Information M-73-007/M-77-213 January 7, 1992
