Sections may be added or deleted from any part of the mine to meet
production requirements so long as the operational activities are within
• the permit boundary and the performance standards are met. In the E Seam
workings, these changes to meet production requirements are limited to
changes that can be made without going beyond the boundaries of the
projected workings shown on Map IV-4, "E Seam Bottom Development", dat:J
February 2, 1986. The system set forth in the permit represents the best
engineered estimates of operation, but in no way restricts the number of
sections used, location of sections or production tonnage to be produced
in the permit area. See Table IV-2 for the mining timetable for the No. 5
Mine.
Mine No. 9 is presently planned for five to six sections.
Exploration drilling shows that the No. 9 Mine may be restricted by a
large area of inseam rock splits and thin coal in the eastern area. Plans
• are to test the area and mine it if economically feasible. Additional
slope entries may be driven parallel to the existing three slope entries
taking approximately ten months to develop. Additional units will be
added after the new slopes are developed driving submains to the east and
west. Additional submains will be driven north and south off of these.
Panels will then be driven east and west off the mains. The number of
units developing will be contingent on coal sales. However, Empire may
adjust the number of working sections upward or downward to meet its
production needs so long as mining occurs within the permit boundary. As
such, the approval of this permit (for both mines) allows production of
2.5 million TPY of raw coal for No. 5 Mine, and 1.5 million TPY for No. 9
Mine. In order to meet these production requirements, sections may be
mined in whatever sequence is necessary within the confines of the permit
. boundary.
(REV. 4/29/86)
IV-50g
