being entered, will be placed in the 5A rock storage area, so
• that it is not in contact with the exposed coal seam (F) and
will not be within 4' of the final reclaimed surface. The
volume of rock to be brought outside (C 8,000 yd3) is less than
3% of the total volume of overburden to be moved during final
reclamation (290,000 yd3) so final contours are not being
adjusted.
Once all of the rock has been deposited within the key cut, the
surface of the area wi 11 be examined to determine whether the
material is a suitable rooting medium. If a suitable rooting
medium exists, the area will be seeded and mulched in order to
reduce erosion from the site until final reclamation activities
are initiated. Seeding activities would take place during the
first normal period for favorable planting conditions following
a positive determination. The seed mix which would be used
includes the following:
Western Wheat Grass 8.1 PLS/Ac
Intermediate Wheat Grass 7.2 PLS/Ac
Indian Rice Grass 2.7 PLS/Ac
The seed mix would be broadcast and straw mulch would be spread
following seeding.
The entire rock storage area currently drains into sediment
control pond 5A-P1 so no changes in the sediment control system
will be needed other than culvert €34 mentioned above. The
drainage area above the rock storage area is less than 1.4 acres
• so no diversion ditches are planned on the up-hill side.
(REV. 4/29/86)
IV-50e
