• P-2. •
4. Please refer to the new Exhibit C-3 in order to follow the
narrative description below:
The original 110 area contains about 3 acres in the northeast
corner that was found to contain poor duality material and
therefore, the need to secure the 111 area in 1985. The area
of disturbance tends to follow the 4350' contour line on the
east, then proceeds around on the north side of the permitted
boundary to within 20 to 30' of the fence line. The present
mine face is located in the northwest corner of the 111 area
and along the western boundary to a lesser degree as the hill-
side declines to the 4335' contour line as shown on the map.
In the extreme southwest corner of the 111 area, little if
any disturbance has occurred below the 4335' line due to the
shallow deposit of material.
Most of the disturbed acreage in the original 110 area has been
regraded and topsoil redistributed on the embankments and mine
floor in preparation for reseeding yet this month. Similarly,
the southern end of the 111 area, east of the deleted area,
has also been prepared for reseeding. In all, approximately
7 to 8 acres will be reseeded in 1986, and when combined with
the acreage never disturbed in the two corners, may total 12
or more acres of the original 20 acres currently permitted.
5. We are confident that the planned elevated haul road will
intercept any potential run-off and avoid sediment deposits
on the deleted area. The high porosity of the gravel-ladened
topsoil and sandy subsoils will almost assure that no run-off
will occur.
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
1. We will request release of both the undisturbed and reseeded
portions of the two presently permitted sites. Those smaller
undisturbed areas remain in the native grass cover as noted
by the USDA Soil Conservation Service. Generally, the grass
cover is very thin on the higher ground. I suspect that the
area in the northeast corner of the 110 site is infact old
abandonded cropland from the 1930's.
2. Your question is addressed in the third paragraph on page 3
of the original narrative statement. Any topsoil material
remaining after the redistribution activity this year, will
be reshaped and temporarily reseeded with a grass drill using
the same grass seed mixture used on the other areas. We will
finally redistribute the balance of the topsoil stockpile
when an ongoing reclamation practice is completed in another
year.
3. As noted in ~k 4 above, approximately 7 to 8 acres of the
presently disturbed 15 to 16 acres ( see the first para-
