Elevation is approximately 5500 to 5600 feet.
SECTION V
Reclamation Recomrendations
After excavation of gravel, the area affected will be restored
to native vegetative cover.
Enough topsoil should be stockpiled in order to plate of backfill
any disturbed area with a minimum of at least four (4) inches of
topsoil.
All slopes after excavation should be graded to a minimum of 4:1.
This will allow for reestablishment of permanent vegetative cover.
The seedbed should be as clean and firm as possible prior to planting.
It would be desirable to use a grass drill equipped with depTh bands
and packer wheels.
A mixture of eight (8) pounds pore live seed (PIS) to the acre of
"Barton" or "Arriba" western wheat grass; and four and one half (4.5)
pounds PLS/Ac. of "Vaughn" or "El Reno" sideoats grams should be
planted.
The seeding should be mulched. If a straw or hay mulch is used a
m;n;rm m, of 4000 pounds per acre of air dry mulch should be used.
The mulch would be crimped into the soil following the seeding
operation.
Any seeding should be done >n either early spring or late enough
in the fall so that germination will not occur until the next
spring. All seedings should be protected from grazing or trampling
for a minimum of two (2) full growing seasons following treatment.
