dispensing pumps, except in the case of the after-hours major
vandalism, sufficient blotting materials are available to quickly
absorb any spill. If an after-hours major vandalism incident were
to occur materials, equipment and men are available quickly upon
call to build temporary containment dikes around the spill.
Personnel using the will be instructed on what to do in case of
spills and what actions should be taken at the time of a spill.
The fuel storage tanks will be steel-welded construction and
complied with local and industry standards when installed. New
corrosion protected pipes will be installed leading to the pumps.
Visual examination will be made of the facility on a regular basis.
Locked valves and shutoffs will be checked each night at closing
time.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
A. There have been no reportable fuel oil spills at our existing
facility west of Edwards.
B. The facility is in such a location that if a major spill were
to occur and was not contained on site, it could reach the
Eagle River. That is why we have designed the bermed area to
hold more fuel that we can store in the facility at any one
time. Listed below are possible spill scenarios.
Storage tanks
a) Overfilling by supplier. Maximum quantity of spill 500
gallons. Would be contained within the bermed area.
b) Tank failure, vandalism, or valve failure. Maximum spill
50,000 gallons tanks are filled to maximum. Spill would
be contained within the bermed area. The bermed-in area
will have a capacity of greater than 56,000 gallons with
the storage tanks in place. If a spill of this magnitude
were to occur B&B Excavating, Inc, would make provisions
to recover as much fuel as possible. Any fuel not
recovered would be blotted with available materials. The
2
