;•
GENERAL INFORMATION:

B&B Excavating, Inc.
Fuel Containment Plan
B&B Excavating, Inc. will maintain fuel storage tanks for No. 2
diesel fuel and gasoline on the land known as the Montgomery Pit.
The fuel is used to supply a fleet of trucks, construction
equipment used in the mining operation, Concrete and Asphalt Batch
plant facil-ities operated by B&B Excavating, Inc. At no time is
the. fuel sold to outside parties. The total capacity of the
storage tanks will be 50,000 gallons. The facility is approximate-
ly 500 feet South of the Eagle River.
SITE INFORMATION:
The fuel containment facility will be a 4 foot thick berm that
is 18 inches high, 50 feet wide 100 feet long. This berm will be
surrounded by gravel yard. Prior commencing fuel storage the tanks
will be moved in and all lines will be laid, when this is complete
the berm will be constructed using road base. The road base is
being used because it is readily available. Once the berm is
complete the fuel tanks will be filled and all tanks and lines will
be checked for leaks. The capacity of the bermed area, including
the tanks, will be approximately 56,000 gallons. This will supply
more than enough capacity to contain any major spill, even if all
holding tanks were to fail at once.
The general slope of the area is north towards the Eagle
River. However, the sand and gravel the would absorb any spills
less than 1,000 gallons. Sufficient blotting material is available
on site the to contain larger spills from reaching the river. The
blotting material is sand that is produced by the mining operation
surrounding fuel facilities.
There will be no valves on the exterior of the berm, thus the
need to secure them against accidental or deliberate openings is
not necessary. For all of the possible spills related to the
1
~Oop~
