Revised 1/11/80 <br />Section 816.46 (u) Continued <br />after the termination of mining activities, but not until <br />the disturbed area has been restored and the vegetation re- <br />quirements of 30 C.F.R. 816.111-826.117 are met (See the dis- <br />cussion under each section) and the drainage entering the pond <br />is approximately equal to the quality of the receiving stream <br />before the initiation of any mining activity, as established <br />by baseline water quality data. <br />Upon removal of each sedimentation pond, the affected <br />land will be regraded and revegetated as required by 30 C.F.R. <br />816.100-816.106 and sections 816.111-816.117 and as described <br />in detail under Section 780.18. <br />As stated on page 816-51, no permanent impoundments are <br />planned. If, for any reason in the future, EFC is required by <br />•~ State or Federal regulatory authorities to leave any permanent <br />impoundments, EFC will submit a modification to the Reclama- <br />tion Plan. <br />Section 816.47 Hydrologic balance: Discharge structures. <br />Discharge from sedimentation ponds, permanent and tempo- <br />rary impoundments, coal processing waste dams and embankments, <br />and diversions shall be controlled by energy dissipators, <br />riprap channels, and other devices, where necessary, to reduce <br />erosion, to prevent deepening or enlargement of stream channels, <br />and to minimize disturbance of the hydrologic balance. Dis- <br />charge structures will be designed according to star:dard engi- <br />neering-design procedures. <br />Discharge from surface water facilities will be controlled <br />~f by the use of energy dissapating and flow check devices where <br />816-49 (a) <br />
