• hlulching Techniques
As stated earlier, a straw muich consisting of a native grass hay will
be used. The planned application of the mulch will be a minimum of
2,000 pounds per acre on flat areas and 4,000 pounds per acre on steeper
slopes.
Irrigation
No irrigation is planned for the areas to be seeded or mulched. If
climatic conditions such as severe drought dictate that irrigation must
be used at some future date, a detailed irrigation plan will be
submitted to the Division for approval prior to the implementation of
any irrigation program.
Pest and Disease Control
• Noxious plants will be controlled using recommended methodologies of the
Colorado State University Extension Service. If outbreaks of insects
become a problem to the point they endanger the successful establishment
of the seeded vegetation on the reclaimed area, they will also be
controlled using methods suggested by the Colorado State University
Extention Service. All herbicides and pesticides utilized will be those
that are approved by the appropriate Colorado and federal government
agencies responsible for the approval and distribution of such agents.
Reclamation Soil Testing Plan
Based on the soils analysis directly following reapplication of the
soil, the final recommended rates for fertilization will be determined
through the soils sample program to be initiated after topsoil
replacement. Prior to the implementation of any fertilization at the
mine site, the Division will be notified for approval.
•
-28-
