at the conclusion of mining activities. All roadbeds will be rounded
• and shaped to conform with the adjacent terrain and to meet natural
drainage restoration standards. At the completion of this regrading the
roadbeds will be ripped, topsoil will be applied, and reseeding will
commence.
Topsoil Structures. Stockpiled topsoil used for reclamation purposes
will not be moved until required for redistribution on a graded area.
The topsoil will be redistributed so as to achieve an approximate,
uniform and stable thickness of six inches. To minimize compaction, the
soil will be prepared for seeding by discing or harrowing. At the
cessation of mining operations, all soil will be removed from the
stockpile and redistributed prior to revegetation.
The detailed plans for initial removal, storage and subsequent
redistribution of topsoil used for reclamation purposes are discussed
later in this Section.
• Backfilling and Soil Stabilization
All areas affected by the surface facilities within the permit area will
be returned to a final surface configuration that closely resembles the
land surface prior to mining. This configuration will conform to the
drainage pattern of the surrounding terrain. The anticipated
post-mining topography is shown on the Post-Mining Topography Map
(Map 2). Pre-mining and post-mining cross sections are shown on the
Pre-Mining and Post-Mining Cross Sections (Figures 1 and 2).
Where practical, final grading in all areas before topsoil placement
will be done along the contour. Slope conditions around the No. 1 and 2
would prohibit the grading of the backfilled material by heavy
equipment. However, the material will be left in a roughened condition
utilizing hand techniques to enhance reclamation'. The final surface
configuration will approximate the overall pre-mining topography.
• following grading, all disturbed areas will blend in with the
undisturbed areas outside the limit of the affected area.
-23-
