• Monument View Gravel Pit <br />FILE #: M~2000-032 <br />SUMMARY RESPONSE TO STATE COMMENTS <br />18. Exhibit E -Please clarify the timing schedu/e with each step of the mining and rec/amation p/an. <br />Provide detai/s of the type and vo/umes of materia/s moved, and where themateria/s are moved <br />from and where it is being moved. <br />RESPONSE: Mining at the site will be progressive. As mining progresses across the site, <br />reclamation work will follow directly behind it. The excavation area (backfill, sand and <br />gravel highwall, and overburden highwall areas) will be limited to three acres in size. The <br />surface disturbance areas for processing, stockpiles, roads, and ponds will be limited to 10 <br />acres. The three-acre limit should require between 130,000 to 150,000 cubic yards of fill <br />material. <br />19. Exhibit E- P/ease provide detai/s and timing of the revegetation task, inc/uding app/ication rates <br />and methods. These task should include topsoil placement, soil til{ing, fertilizer application, <br />seeding, mu/ch app/ication. The division recommends that concurrent rec/amation be <br />performed, including revegetation task, on a much area as possible behind the active pit. <br />RESPONSE: The information has been added to the reclamation plan. Reclamation will <br />follow behind the mining operations. Mulching, seeding, and fertilizing will be delayed until <br />an area 10 acres or less in size is available to work. <br />20. Exhibit G - Dewatering of the pit and evaporative losses are considered to be impacts to the <br />groundwater systems, as is co/%ting and sett/ing ofsurface water. P/ease provide the <br />information by Ru/e 6.4.7(2). <br />RESPONSE: The information has been added to this section. <br />21. EXH/B/T J -Vegetation /nformation. <br />Please provide estimates of the percent vegetative cover provided by each vegetation type <br />onsite (i.e. trees, tall shrubs, low shrubs, grasses, forties, etc.). <br />RESPONSE: The information has been added to this section <br />22. Aher revisions to the mining p/an a reclamation p/an listed above, provide revised rec/amation <br />cost information in Exhibit L., inc/uding costs to dewater. <br />RESPONSE: The reclamation cost information has been revised and clarified. <br />23. Exhibit Q, the proof ofnotice to the Mesa Soi/Conservation District indicates the notice was <br />de/ive~ed to the Mesa County Soil Conservation District Service.
