• Monument View Gravel Pit <br />FILE #: M-2000-032 <br />SUMMARY RESPONSE TO STATE COMMENTS <br />11. Exhibit D - P/ease indicate the proposed location for the fi//materia/stockpi/e to maintain on <br />site. <br />RESPONSE: Stockpiled fill materials are located along the north property line (approx. <br />9,000 CY); in the berm used to buffer the trailer park area (9,000 CY), in stockpiled <br />located near the entrance to the facility (50,000 CY), and the overburden from the Persigo <br />Gravel Mine, (68,000 CY & Permit # M-2000-031) will be used. <br />12. Exhibit D - What is the maximum acreage to be disturbed by the processing area. /nc/ude the <br />access roads, crushing and screening area, product stockpi/es <br />RESPONSE: 10 acres maximum. The ten acres will be stripped of topsoil prior to use. <br />13. Exhibit D - P/ease indicate ifa wash p/ant wi//be used at this location. /fso, p/ease inc/ude <br />decor/s of the washing operation, inclading water requirements and handling. <br />RESPONSE: The site will not have a washing operation. <br />14. Exhibit E- Provide a decor/ that depicts back6/ling the vertical highwal(under water, so the slope <br />wi//be stab/e, and how the slope wi//be documented to be 3.•1. <br />RESPONSE: The project site will be dewatered. The site will be dewatered as part of the <br />progressive mining for the site, and prior to backfill placement. Therefore, backfilling under <br />water will not be applicable. There will be no 3:1 slopes, except for the retention pond <br />located near the west property boundary. <br />15. Exhibit E- Wi// tapsoi/be imported to this site for rec/amadon? /fso, p/ease provide details of <br />the importation and placement process <br />RESPONSE: The plans have been revised to require the top 2 to 6 inches of topsoil to be <br />stripped and stockpiled for reclamation work. The soils will still need to be mulched and <br />fertilized. <br />16. Exhibit E- P/ease provide reclamation detai/s for the access road, the settling pond and the berm <br />on the southeast side of the pit. <br />RESPONSE: All of these items will be removed as part of the site reclamation effort. The <br />access roads will be gravel material, which can be bulldozed and used for site fill material. <br />The settlement pond will be filled with overburden or imported site fill material. The berm <br />at the southeast corner will be used for fill at the end of the mining period. The berm is <br />required to buffer trailer park residence during mine crushing and screening operations. <br />17. Exhibit E -The proposed seed mix is inadequate. P/ease provide a mix that provides for a <br />diverse vegetative stand. <br />RESPONSE: The proposed seed mix has been revised to include additional varieties of <br />plant material. <br />RG Consulting Engineers, Inc.
