•
Revision #1 - Pege IS of30
3) The operator shat! provide an estimate of the project water requirements including flow rates and
annual vo/umes for development, mining and reclamation phases ojthe project.
During sand and gravel mining operations, the site will need to be dewatered to access all of the sand
and gravel. The groundwater collected within the mining azeas will be pumped into the Canning
Factory Ditch, which is located north of G Road. This ditch is owned and operated by the Gtand
]unction Drainage District. M approval letter from the Drainage District has been included in Exhibit
G. The groundwater will be pumped from the mining operations using pumps with a discharge
capacity of around 4 cubic feet per second, during the mining of the sand and gravel, and for a portion
of the backfill placement. On a yearly basis, the applicant estimates it will require 30 days for removal
of the sand and gravel, and 60 days for backfilling. Therefore, on a yearly basis, the applicant may
discharge approximately 227 million gallons of groundwater into the Canning Factor Ditch, which
flows into the Colorado River.
Water collected within the mining pi[ will also be used for dust control within the project site. This
could amount to as much as 7,000 gallons per day.
Water for landscaping along G and 23 Road will require a drip irrigation system, with the water
supplied by an existing domestic water main line located in 23 Road. This landscaping could amount
to 260 gallons per day during the spring, summer and fall months.
Reclamation plantings for the site will not require an irrigated water source.
4) The operator shall indicate the projected amount from each ojlhe sources of water to supply the
project water requirements jor mining operation and reclamation
Water collected within the pit will also be used for dust control within the project site.
