Reclamation of power lines owned by Powderhorn Coal Company will be started
within a year following the determination that they are no longer needed or serve
no use in the post mining land use. Poles and guy wires will be excavated or cut
off a minimum of I-foot below grade.
Cameo Borrow Area No. 2
Final contours for the Cameo Borrow Area No. 2 are shown on Exhibit 52, Tab
13. Cross-sections representing the existing and final grade are shown on
Exhibit 53, Tab 13. The area will be graded to the final grade and approximately
6" of topsoil from adjacent disturbance areas or nearby stockpiles will be
distributed on the surface.
Coal Canyon Realignment
As part of the design for CRDA -2, the Coal Canyon drainage channel was
realigned to provide a more uniform, controlled flow between CRDA 1 and 2.
The four rock check dams constructed in the channel have caused significant
deposition and necessitated frequent maintenance. In order to assure the
channel is in equilibrium with the flow regime, the rock check dams will be
removed and the excess sediment will be harvested for use as refuse cover soil.
The drainage channel will be graded to an approximate uniform grade to the
cross sections presented on Exhibits 53 and 55. Berms located along the middle
• and lower sections will be leveled so the channel blends naturally into the
adjacent terrain. Berms will not be utilized to provide the necessary flow capacity
along the segment between the dip section concrete structure at the upper end
and the two 81" by 59" culverts at the lower. Additionally, the Pond 6
embankment will be built up as appropriate so that an embankment of
substantial width is provided for the channel rather than the current configuration
of the pond embankment with a narrower berm on top. The rock from the check
dams will be used for the construction of rock groups to be placed on the
reclaimed surface of CRDA-1 & 2 or other reclamation uses. Since material
generated from the Coal Canyon Realignment will be utilized for the reclamation
of CRDA-1 & 2, the realignment will be performed concurrently with refuse pile
reclamation.
Roads
Most of the roads listed in Table 13-2 will be reclaimed as part of the operations
area that they are associated with. In General, each roadway will be excavated
down to the original wash bottom at each drainage crossing, and culverts will be
removed. The excavated material will be placed in road cuts or designated fill
areas adjacent to the roadway. Fill material will be placed in uniform lifts and
compacted as necessary to insure stability. The cut slopes formed at the
drainage crossings and the cut and fill slopes adjacent to the road will be
regraded and rounded to conform each site to the surrounding terrain.

14-13
(Rev. 8/01)
