EXHIBIT D
UPLAND GRAVEL
RECLAMATION PLAN
The gravel deposit will be removed down to the underlying Mancos Shale formation. Since no
topsoil or overburden will be saved, the underlying soils will be conditioned 8-12 inches deep
to support vegetation. A seed mix recommended and application procedures for non-irrigated
rangeland published by Colorado State University Cooperative Extension will be used and is
included for reference. No trees exist or will be established on the site.
Diversion ditches and contoured corrugates will be constructed to disperse stone flows into the
lower areas being reclaimed to help establish vegetation.
A 2 foot deep catch basin (30'x330') in the storage area (Unit 1 and 2) will collect excess
storm run-off which is not absorbed by the reclaimed areas uphill. No run-off or stone water
or sediment will exit the site.
The reclaimed surface will slope to the Southwest at 4-6 percent grade. Re-vegetation will
take place within six months of each unit completion in 2 acre increments as the extraction
continues to the Northeast. The total area which will be un-reclaimed at any one time will not
exceed 4 acres. The life of the gravel pit is estimated to be 5 to 9 years, but could be longer
depending on the community's need for the materials produced.
All diversion ditches, haul roads and catch basins will be reclaimed, and all structures will be
removed from the site.
RECLAMATION COST ESTIMATE PER ACRE:
14 Hr.
