n
~~
Part (1)(d) of lhile 4.05.9, states that the stock tanks shall not
result in the diminution of the quantity and quality of water available
to local water right holders. Seepage through the tank bottoms will mix
with the spoil and may contribute additionally to the dissolved chemical
load >n the spoil aquifer. The spoil aquifer flora discharges.at the
furthest downgradient pit highwall as a series of spoil springs.
The downgradient spoil springs that would ultimately receive water
infiltrating through the tank bottans into the spoil are spoil springs
1, 3, and 4. These spoil springs will be monitored monthly from May
through September for pH, TDS, and 504 and bimonthly (May, July and
September) for the suite parameters listed in Table 1.
The above-specified monitoring will be conducted until October 1992. At
this time the data will be analyzed and a revised PHC for the Seneca II
Mine, which incorporates an analysis of the impacts of these proposed
stock tanks on the hydrologic balance, will be performed and submitted •
as a Technical Revision concurrent with their review of the revised PHC
analysis, Peabody will request that MLR make a determination
(affinrative or negative) regarding the use of these stock tanks as
permanent impoundments in the final reclamation.
C 1
7-2-2 Revised 11/28/90
