Benson Brothers Pig Mesa Pit
DMG 112 Application
Exhibit E- Reclamation Plan
The azea to be mined is considered one single phase. It is the operator's intention to perform
reclamation of the site concurrently with mining of the site, as much as possible. Mining operations
will leave a large, gently sloped area above the Tongue Creek Valley intended for residential
subdivision. There is very little existing vegetation on the site
a) The site is currently classified as undeveloped Clayey Salt Desert with very little vegetation at
the edge of a mesa. The reclamation chosen is for residential subdivision due to the lack of
existing vegetation and the proximity to developing residential areas across the small Tongue
Creek Valley to the east. Earthmoving activities at the site will leave a lazge gently sloped area
elevated above the valley that is suitable for development of home sites.
b) The post mining land use of residential subdivision is compatible with many properties to the
east of the Tongue Creek Valley and the northeast corner of the property borders the
incorporated Orchazd City Boundary. Approval by the Boazd of Delta County Commissioners
for Specific Development Pemut No. SD04-009 for a gravel pit with future land use as
residential subdivision constitutes reasonable assurance of this land use. A copy of the
resolution of the Boazd of County Commissioners is included in this application.
c) Description for meeting the requirements of Section 3.1.
3.1.1 The post mining land use was determined according to the wishes of the owners and
consultations with the Delta County Planning Commission and the Boazd of County
Commissioners.
3.1.2 We aze not reclaiming substituted land.
3.1.3 Reclamation will be completed in a timely manner and final reclamation will be
completed within five years of completion of mining.
3.1.4 No public use of the land will be permitted.
3.1.5 Grading will create stable 3:1 slopes around the perimeter of the affected land and
gently sloping interior floor suitable for home site development.
Backfilling will be done with materials from the site and compacted by the equipment
used to do the backfilling.
All grading on site will occur on neazly flat slopes except the high-walls, which will be
performed at times when erosion due to weather conditions will be minimized. No
high-walls steeper than 3:1 will remain after reclamation.
Backfilling and grading will be performed as soon as practical after mining so that no
more than 18 acres of un-reclaimed disturbance is present at any one time.
There will be no acid-forming or toxic materials mined on this site. Any refuse will be
properly disposed of.
There will be no drill or auger holes or shafts on this site.
Slope combinations proposed for this site aze similaz and compatible with surrounding
conditions and land use. There will be no ponds left on site as part of the reclamation
plan.
The proposed reclamation is not for agricultural or horticultural crops.
We do not intend to backfill inert material from outside the permit area at this time.
Proper notice will be provided to the Office if need arises for use of such material for
backfill at this site.
