'l +~ <br />Introduction <br />Colorado Coal Mining Company intends to commence surface <br />mining activities on a limited scale for the purpose of <br />securing coal for test burns. The map included herewith <br />describes the location of the activities and the necessary <br />support area. The total surface area is approximately 25 <br />acres. Further, all activities will occur in areas <br />previously identified for such purposes on the mine plan map <br />(map 14). <br />Pre-Operational Activities <br />Prior to the commencement of overburden stripping and coal <br />removal operations, Colorado Coal Mining Company will place <br />the necessary signs pursuant to 4.02 of the regulations in <br />the appropriate locations. <br />Sediment control structures will be installed in the <br />locations shown on the map. The structures will include an <br />adequately designed sedimentation pond and associated <br />interceptor ditch. A diversion ditch will be installed above <br />the area of activity to prevent undisturbed runoff from <br />entering the area. The calculations utilized to size the <br />structures will be provided prior to commencement of <br />activities. <br />Operations Plan <br />Equipment <br />Equipment to be utilized includes dozers, loaders, rock <br />trucks, scrapers, graders and a coal crusher. <br />
