Mr. Rob Helmick
July 20, 1999
Page 9
e) Any weed killers used must be compatible with use near waterways since this
site is in a floodplain. For example, Roundup should not be used neaz running
water. If noxious weeds become a problem, Connell will contact the
Department of Natural Resources or the Extension Office for recommended
chemical weed killers.
f) In areas where mining is not occurring, existing vegetation will be left on the
ground to slow stormwater runoff and prevent erosion. No stormwater
prevention structures will be constructed in areas not currently disturbed by
mining activities.
/1. Land uses t~~ithin 500 feet. The current use of this site is for irrigated crop growth.
The land immediately to the east of the site, owned by Terra Resource, is
agriculture land. Connell has an active mining operation (Wellington Downs Pit)
immediately to the west. Immediately to the south, Lewis Swift [II has used his
property for sand and gravel mining, but is currently undergoing reclamation
efforts. To the north of the proposed site is additional property owned by this
property owner and is used for limited crop production and livestock grazing.
12, Existing/proposed access to nearest public road. Connell is proposing to access
the site from the I-25 frontage road at the location of an existing access for the
current property owner. CDOT has been contacted regarding an access permit for
the changed use of the existing access.
/3. Details jor roads and parking areas. There will be one access point [o the site
off of the 1-25 frontage road. This access will be at the location of the plant site
and Connell will construct a gravel roadway 125?? feet in length. The width of
[he access will be approximately 24 feet. Connell will design the roadway to
drain stormwater and limit erosion and sedimentation. This access will meet all
the requirements of CDOT.
The parking area for the site will be located by the plant site. It will be a gravel
lot. Please see the enlarged site plan of the processing area for additional
information.
14. Detailed landscaping plan in compliance with the Larimer County Landscape
Guidelines. Detailed landscape information is included on Exhibit F,
Reclamation Plan. This includes berms, plant lists, seeding information and
cross-sections of the pond slopes. All information submitted is in compliance
with the Larimer County Landscape Guidelines. The proposed landscaping will
compliment the approved plan on the west side of I-25.
~:
