3. Hay or straw mulch with netting. <br />Hay or straw mulch shall be applied as in treatment number 1 above, <br />except for crimping. Erosion control netting shall be applied over <br />the straw. The erosion control netting shall be AMXCO polypropylene <br />netting as manufactured by American Excelsior Company, or equivalent. <br />The netting shall be extruded polypropylene with approximately 1.5 x <br />1.3 strands per inch, with a mesh opening of approximately 5/8" x <br />3/4". The netting shall be green. <br />The netting shall be installed in conformance with manufacturer <br />specifications. Netting shall be rolled over the slope in the <br />direction of water flow and stapled in place with 6" wire staples. <br />Staple pattern and density shall be in conformance with <br />manufacturer's recommendation for given slope length/gradient <br />combinations. The uphill end of each roll shall be anchored by <br />burying the end of the roll with approximately 6" of cover material. <br />4. Hydromulch with tackifier. <br />Hydromulch shall be applied at a rate of one and a half (1 1/2) tons <br />per acre. Mulch shall be applied after seeding and not later than 24 <br />hours after seeding. <br />Hydromulch shall consist of a virgin wood fiber mulch manufactured <br />from 100% whole wood chips. A minimum 307, of the wood fibers shall <br />be .15 inches or longer. The wood fiber shall contain a <br />water-soluble non-toxic dye to insure uniform application. The <br />hydromulch shall include a non-asphalt tackifier to be applied at a <br />rate of 60 pounds per acre or, according to manufacturer's <br />recommendations. <br />F. Maintenance <br />The CONTRACTOR shall maintain the areas until all work on the entire <br />contract has been completed and accepted. Maintenance will consist of <br />repair of damage caused by wind or water erosion, fire or other causes. <br />Such areas shall be repaired to reestablish the condition and grade of <br />the seedbed and shall be fertilized, reseeded, and remulched as directed <br />by the PROJECT MANAGER. <br />2.3 Measurement and Payment <br />There will be no measurement for payment made for this bid item. Payment <br />shall be made for the lump sum bid price. The Division has estimated the <br />approximate acreage to be revegetated at the East Mine Area. However, <br />bidders are responsible for making their own acreage determinations. The <br />price bid shall include all of the CONTRACTOR'S cost of whatever nature <br />to complete the above described work in accordance with the <br />specifications. <br />-9- <br />
