The Division of Minerals and Geology's Rule 4.20.2, requires chat landowners be given
certain information prior to mining beneath or adjacent to the landowners' property or
residence. On behalf of Bowie Resources Limited (BRL), the Bureau of Land Management
(BLM) is hereby given the required notice.
BRL began mining under BLM suface during April 1999 under right-of-way COC-62688.
The BLM had advance notice of the mining activities by virtue of its Environmental Analysis
of Coal Lease application C-61209 dated August 1998 and the right-of-way application that
was submitted to the BLM by letter dated January 13,1999.
The BLM has a copy of BRL's Map 14, Mine Plan which presents the identification of
specific areas in which mining will take place and the dates of mining activities that could
cause subsidence and affect structures.
The BLM also has a copy of BRL's Map 27, Subsidence which presents areas where
extraction will be limited to control adverse surface effects. Extraction is limited to control
subsidence to protect Hubbard Creek and to avoid reactivating landslides along the east
facing Hubbard Creek canyon slopes.
