Information on explosives is found on pages 44-49 of Volume I of the permit
application.
No specific approvals are required in this section. This mine is in compliance with
this section.
VII. Disposal of Excess Spoil and Underground Development Waste
A disposal plan for excess spoil and underground development waste was not
proposed. This mine did not produce excess material.
No specific approvals are required in this section. This mine is in compliance with
this section.
VIII. Coal Processing Waste Banks
This operation did not propose a plan to handle coal processing waste since the only
processing activity that would occur is the crushing of coal. Crushing operations were
not anticipated to generate processing waste.
No coal processing waste banks had been constructed during the second permit term
and, since no further mining will occur. No specific approvals are required in this
section. This mine is in compliance with this section.
IX. Coal Processing Waste
No coal waste is being generated at this mine. No specific approvals are required
in this section. This mine is in compliance with this section.
X. Backfilling and Grading
The backfilling and grading plan has been revised from the original plan as approved
in Section 2.05.4 of the permit document. Development of Pit 2 will not occur to
the southwest of the Pit 1 as planned. This change in the mine plan required a
change in the backfilling and grading plan as material from Pit 2 would no longer be
used to partially backfill Pit 1. The material required to backfill Pit 1 would be
obtained from the overburden stockpile next to the pit and from material obtained
by reducing the pit highwalls. In this manner the bottom of the pit was elevated to
a grade that allows for drainage of the area. A drainage~vay was established through
Canadian Strip Mine, C-S1-026 22
July 31, 1992
