. EDNA MINE - 1994 EROSION INVENTORY REPORT
OVERVIEW
Section 4.3 of Permit No. C-80-001 requires an annual erosion
inventory of the Edna Mine's permanently reclaimed lands that
remain under bond. The permit requires that an inventory report be
submitted to the CDMG on or before April 30th of each year. The
first erosion inventory report of this process was done in the
spring of 1993 since approval of the permit section containing this
language was not granted until after snowfall in 1992.
Several areas not previously detailed were added to the inventory.
Block 3 of the Moffat Area reclaimed area is a live handled topsoil
area that will receive a reclamation seed mix application in the
spring of 1994. This block is bordered by Block 2 of the Moffat
Area reclaim on the east and by the lower Moffat Area haul road to
the west. This area was topsoiled in 1993. Block 4 of the Moffat
Area reclaim lies immediately north of Block 1 and is bordered to
the east by the upper Moffat haul road and on the west by the
middle Moffat haul road. This block is also live handled roto-
cleared topsoil, but will not have additional seeding as part of
the ongoing study area dealing with live handle topsoil vegetation
success. Block 5 of the Moffat Area reclaimed lands is a live
handled topsoil area that will have a reclamation seed mix applied
in the spring of 1994. This block lies directly north of Block 2,
and is bordered on the east and west by the middle Moffat haul road
and the lower Moffat haul road respectively. Block 6 of the Moffat
Area reclaimed area is a live handled topsoil area that will also
have a reclamation seed mixture applied in the spring of 1994.
This block is the first reclaim area below the lower Moffat haul
road. It is bordered on the south by the toe of the Moffat out of
pit spoils, on the east by the lower Moffat haul road and on the
west by the edge of the mining disturbance.
Areas permanently reclaimed that are required to be inventoried
under the plan include the reclaimed areas, to date, on the Moffat
Area, an approximately 10 acre strip in the South of Shop Area and
areas permanently reclaimed on West Ridge. The West Ridge areas
are currently exempt from inventory requirements pending
construction of runoff control structures required by the West
Ridge Hydrologic Reconstruction Plan. Three sections in the West
Ridge Area were voluntarily evaluated, and are included in this
report for future evaluation of the effectiveness of the West Ridge
Hydrologic Plan's success. Results of the inventory are described
below. The inventoried areas are referenced to Exhibit 1 of the
1992 Erosion Inventory Report for the West Ridge and South of Shop
areas and Exhibit 4 ("Permanent Revegetation") of the 1993 Annual
Reclamation Report for the Moffat Area.
4/18/94 DLB
