This letter serves to formally present the adaptation and to explain it in <br />some detail. <br />Because the Phase II underdrain consists of only one underdrain pipe, in contrast to the two 24" <br />and one 4" pipes designed for Phase I, the bottom trench, which forms the conduit for that pipe <br />and the surrounding underdrain pipe backfill, will have dimensions of 4 feet wide and 3 feet <br />deep. This makes it more efficient to construct the overlying trench at the top of the "T" with <br />dimensions of 3 feet deep and IS feet wide. This fortuitously results in an increase in the cross <br />section azea of the underdrain fill such that it exceeds the design minimum of 40 squaze feet that <br />was employed in Phase I.
