This letter serves to formally present the adaptation and to explain it in
some detail.
Because the Phase II underdrain consists of only one underdrain pipe, in contrast to the two 24"
and one 4" pipes designed for Phase I, the bottom trench, which forms the conduit for that pipe
and the surrounding underdrain pipe backfill, will have dimensions of 4 feet wide and 3 feet
deep. This makes it more efficient to construct the overlying trench at the top of the "T" with
dimensions of 3 feet deep and IS feet wide. This fortuitously results in an increase in the cross
section azea of the underdrain fill such that it exceeds the design minimum of 40 squaze feet that
was employed in Phase I. Thus the dimensions of the "stubbed T" detail have been adapted for
the single-pipe design.
The attached description and drawing from Golder Associates further documents this adaptation.
If tAere are any additional questions, please let me know at your eazliest convenience.
Sin rely
~oh~n E.
