Page 9
Cross Section 4 This area is noticeably steeper than the channel
above and is on the lower edge of the bonded strip. Flow
in the channel appears to be concentrating into a single channel
instead of braiding as noted in earliest reports. With the wet
spring weather some flow signs were noted on the side slopes of the
channel. Cross Section 4 of Appendix A shows the collective data
for this area.
Cross Section 5 This cross section is located on bond released
land and is being monitored only to predict how this area might
affect that of the bonded portion. In this vicinity vegetation is
present on some of the side slopes of the channel but none was
noticed in the bottom. Rock size in the channel varies from 2 to
12 inches in diameter and the channel appears well armored. This
section showed the most sign of erosion of all the sections, but
still cannot be considered excessive at this point. Special note
should be taken of this area in the spring 1996 survey to see if
the channel heals or deepens further. The combined data graph for
this section is found in Appendix A.
Based on the data collected from these five cross section areas and
a general survey of the area this concentrated flow feature does
not appear to be experiencing excessive erosion. For this reason
no mitigative measures are proposed for this concentrated flow
feature at this time.
Subarea 1 Erosion Condition Classification
South of Shop Subarea 1 was evaluated using the methods described
in BLM Technical Note No. 346. The erosion condition composite
soil surface factor score for this site is 4.2, which places it in
the Stable erosion class. The tabulated results for this survey
are contained in Table l0.
Subarea 2 Erosion Condition Classification
This area was also evaluated using the methods described in BLM
Technical Note No. 346. The erosion condition composite soil
surface factor for this site is 4.2 which places it in the Stable
category. The tabulated results for this survey are listed in
Table 11.
Subarea 3 Erosion Condition Classification
The procedure outlined in BLM Technical Note No. 346 was used to
evaluate this area. The erosion condition composite soil surface
factor for this site is 4.2. This places this area in the Stable
category. The tabulated results for this survey are listed in
Table 12.
6/22/95 DLB
