Page 8
Based on the sampling of these nine areas in the Moffat Area
reclamation mitigation is planned on 5 areas within Blocks 2, 4, 5,
7, S, and 9. These mitigation measures will be detailed in the
final section of this report.
South of Shop
The narrow strip across the westerly facing slope in the South of
Shop Area that remains under bond was inventoried. The area was
divided in the same manner as in previous surveys for consistency
and is shown on Exhibit 1, Sheet 2 of 2. The concentrated flow
feature referenced in previous reports was also measured.
Concentrated Flow Feature No. 1
The location of Concentrated Flow Feature No. 1 is shown in Exhibit
1, Sheet 2 of 2. The feature appears to be reasonably stable with
either cobble armoring or vegetation present at the base and side
slopes of most of the sections. The 5 cross sections measured in
previous reports were measured again and the results are listed
below. Graphical representation of these easurements are found in
Appendix A - South of Shop Concentrated F~ow Feature 1. The cross
sections are ordered from highest upslop to lowest.
Cross Section 1 In the area of this cross section vegetation is
well established on the sides and on the bottom of the channel.
Rock cobble on the bottom varies in size from 1" to 4" in diameter.
A profile of the area comparing different years monitoring is
listed as Cross-Section 1 in Appendix A. A review of the cross
section shows that this area has been fairly stable over time and
has, in fact, improved since the original spring 1992 measurement.
Cross Section 2 This area shows vegetation on the side slopes and
on the bottom of the channel. Rock in the channel varies from 1 to
5 inches in diameter. Profiles are shown in Cross Section 2 in
Appendix A. Very little change is noted in the profile of this
cross section from last year to this year. This cross section area
appears stable.
Cross Section 3 In the vicinity of this cross section vegetation
is established on the side slopes and at the bottom of the channel.
Rock fragments in the channel bottom vary from 1 to 9 inches in
diameter and is providing good armoring. Some recent movement of
the smaller cobble was apparent in the bottom of this reach, but
vegetation was still in place and undamaged. Collective data on
this cross section is also shown in Appendix A, Cross Section 3.
This cross section appears stable.
6/22/95 DLB
