III IIINIIIIIIIIIII
RFCEIV~p
. EDNA MINE - 1995 EROSION INVENTORY REPORT JUN 2 6 995
OVERVIEW 0~~~"O0 ~''~unerals 8 Geology
Section 4.3 of Permit No. C-80-001 requires an annual erosion
inventory of the Edna Mine's permanently reclaimed lands that
remain under bond. The permit requires that an inventory report be
submitted to the CDMG on or before July 15th of each year. The
first erosion inventory report of this process was done in the
spring of 1993 after the initial approval of the referenced permit
section. The second inventory was conducted in the fall of 1993
for the 1994 report. With further changes in the permit language
the inventories will now be done in the spring of each year, thus
this spring monitoring for the 1995 report.
Several areas not previously detailed were added to this years
inventory they are Blocks 7, 8 and 9 in the Moffat Area reclaim
area. These areas have all received topsoil redistribution in the
1994 field season. The areas may be referenced on Exhibit 1, Sheet
1 of 2, of this report. Three concentrated flow features were also
added for detailed monitoring. These features are all associated
with drainage features constructed along the Goat Trail access road
at the mine. No areas were removed from the monitoring list for
this report.
Areas permanently reclaimed that are required to be inventoried
under the plan include the reclaimed areas, to date, on the Moffat
Area, an approximately 10 acre strip in the South of Shop Area and
areas permanently reclaimed on West Ridge. The West Ridge areas
are currently exempt from inventory requirements pending
construction of runoff control structures required by the West
Ridge Hydrologic Reconstruction Plan. Five sections in the West
Ridge Area were voluntarily evaluated, and are included in this
report for future evaluation of the effectiveness of the West Ridge
Hydrologic Plan's success. Results of the inventory are described
below. The inventoried areas are referenced to Exhibit 1, Sheets
1 and 2, of this report.
INVENTORY METHODS
Pedestrian and vehicular surveys of permanently reclaimed areas
were conducted to inventory erosion features. Individual features
and entire sites were evaluated as outlined in Section 4.3. The
existing condition of the single concentrated flow feature,
identified in the 1992 report in the South of Shop Area, and the
three features mentioned above on the Goat Trail were documented
using method (1) ("Cross-Section Survey") outlined in Permit No. C-
80-001, Section 4.3. This method was chosen to determine the rate
of degradation or agradation within these reaches over time.
6/22/95 DLB
