Two other items that arose during the inspection bear mentioning.
First, in order to avoid recurring questions regarding blasting
reports, I would suggest that the blasting report forms be revised
to include an explanation of the symbols used to identify blasting
patterns. This would preclude the need to track down the blasters
and have them reconstruct blast sketches.
Second, after inspecting the topsoil stockpiles around the
perimeter of Section 15/16, Steve Wathen and I felt that a berm at
the downhill toe of the piles would be beneficial. A berm would
help to insure that topsoil does not wash off into the adjacent
undisturbed areas where it would no longer be available for
reclamation purposes. A berm would also provide a well-defined
boundary within which the topsoil is to be contained, which might
pre-empt questions and concerns on the part of Division inspectors
over the next two to three years before the topsoil is respread.
As of this date, the Division has not been contacted by the
Albuquerque Field Office of the OSM regarding questions that their
inspector had. We will contact you if and when we receive any
information.
If you have any questions, please contact me or Steve Wathen.
Sincerely,
,~ n .'/~''' /
"iii L,,,,/ ~ ~ ~Y , "C/~ ~ ~ ~Z.
Larry P.
