Following is a summary of the B-seam revision and other pertinent information
as you requested, The Mt. Gunnison Mine began producing coal in 1982 from the
F-seam, Full production using a continuous miner has averaged approximately
5U0,000 tons per year from undermining approximately 900 acres of the 4276
acre permit area, The permit area genera lly lies saute of Highway 133 and
north of the Minnesota Creek drainage divide,
B-seam Mine Plan
In April, 1989, the applicant applies to the Division and received approval to
oegin mining in the B-seam. Approval of the revision was granted July 12,
1989. Access to the B-seam will oe accomplished tnrougn the construction of
two north-south ramps, and a ventilation shaft to the SW 1/4 of Section 21,
T13S, R90W from the F-seam to the 8-seam, 390' below, Initially, room ana
pillar mining will oe performed with a continuous miner, This work will oe
done 1n a manner to develop panels for later removal using longwail methods,
and t0 prOdUCe d5 much a5 1,4 mi1110n LOWS Der yedr, This reV1510n axes not
entail any aaatttonal Surface disturoance since all access and ventllattan
facilities will be contained within vie F-seam workings. The permit area Has
been increased, however, by 35,5 acres to accommodate the B-seam mine mate
access entries.
Long-range plans propose mining of the intervening E-seam south of the ramps,
following extraction of the B-seam, The E-seam lies 180-200 feet below the
F-seam ana 200 feet above the B-seam, The 1989 mine plan permitting action
Covered the B-Seam exclusively,
Once the access ramps and ventilation shaft Has been completed the 8-seam main
will oe driven to the west. Bleeder entries will oe driven to the north and
teen west to define the mining block and 8 panels, These panels would teen be
extracted oy a retreating longwall, This olock is anticipated to De mined out
