' FIELD INSPECTION
' Review of site conditions included two (2) phases:
• Determine Cut/Fill Slopes Requiring Analyses Based on Rocky
Mountain Surveyors Previous Work
' • Complete mapping of slope segments which
Do not meet the criteria of Rule 4.03.1 (3)(c)(i) and
Rule 4.03.2 (3)(c)(i)
' - Other slopes which exhibit signs of instability
' Rocky Mountain Surveyors had identified 15 slope segments which were
constructed in a manner in which the Rules 2.03.1 and 2.03.2 were not
' met. Review of each one of these slopes indicated that material types
exposed had been confused between in-place rock cut slopes and
unconsolidated material. Therefore, all slopes met the requirements of
Rules 4.03.1 and 4.03.2. However, several slope segments were
identified which exhibited signs of instability. Each one of these
slopes was located on a topographic map. THe slopes were inspected and
site conditions noted.
The slope mapping and inspection work was completed on August 10, 1985.
' Various aspects noted on each area of instability include the following:
' • Mapping
- Location
' = Width
Leng±h
- Thickness
• Type of slope failure
• Preliminary determination of remedial measures
In addition, general site conditions such as strike and dip of rock
' formations, phreatic surface, seeps and springs, and rock material of
the slide as well as the underlying bedrock were noted. Sizes, slopes,
' heights, widths, and other pertinent information were estimated and
recorded to determine the mechanisms and geometry of each unstable area.
' -3-
