The Division has attempted to identify the areas needing
reclamation and the activities Chat are required:
1. Phase 1 - This area needs to be scarified to alleviate compaction
problems, topsoiled, seeded, and hydromulched.
2. Phase 3 - This area needs the same practices as specified for
Phase 1.
3. Phase 2A and 2B - This Division has assumed this area is being
sloped, in compliance with Rule 6.1(f) of the Rules and Regulations, as
mining progresses. Therefore, no grading-related costs need to be
included in the reclamation costs. This area, however, needs to be
topsoiled, seeded, and hydromulched. Please specify the slope acreage
requiring these practices.
4. The 125-foot "No Mining" strip between Nome Street and the pit -
This area needs the same practices as specified for Phases 1 and 3.
The operator needs to specify the number of acres requiring reclamation
at this worst-case time. Also, reclamation costs for the above-referenced
activities and any not specified or overlooked by the Division (such as tree
planting) needs to be calculated. To assist the operator in computing costs,
the Division has calculated some of the reclamation costs.
A. Topsoil replacement at $0.66 per cubic yard for a
12-inch depth = $1,065.OOjacre.
B. Seeding and hydromulching (including labor and
material) at $1,742.OOjacre.
If you have any questions, please call.
S' er~ely,(r~
_~l 3~~~-p\ / lJ
Peter V.
