West Ridge has been
separated into nine different blocks for the Erosion Inventory Control Report using the terraces
' as boundaries (see Exhibit 1, Sheet 2). Table 12 provides a summary of the inventory data and is
followed by a brief description of each block and corrective measures performed on each block
as a result of previous inventories. P&M personnel expect that some erosional features may
' develop in the newly reclaimed areas for the next several yeazs until vegetation begins to
establish. The terraces are performing as anticipated; existing gullies located primarily on older
non-topsoiled reclamation show no sign of activity and seem to be stabilizing with vegetation
establishing along the sides and bottoms. Most blocks showed slight improvements over the
previous yeaz. Block 8-9 showed some deterioration due to the formation of a flow pattern south
of the road. Ice dams blocked spring snowmelt in several places resulting in terraces overtopping
and forming gullies. The reduced status was primazily caused by the slow establishment of
vegetation on the most recently reclaimed non-topsoiled portions of the blocks.
Table 12: West Ridge Erosion Inventory Data Summary
Area 2000 1999 1998 1997 1996
' Block 1-6 11 12 13 35 18
Block 6-7 17 18 18 21 18
Block 7-8 22 24 23 17 17
Block 8-9 27 12 7 18 19
Block 9-]0 19 18 12 27 25
' Block 10-11 14 18 12 23 24
Block 11-12 8 18 12 l9 22
' Block 12-13
Bl
k 13
14 9
6 12
9 l2
6 21
24 21
26
oc
-
' 9
