SpritrgMainlenarrce
May !, /997
Page 2
MCC will install a concrete headwall which will allow flow from ditch Dl-5 to flow into the
new surface pipe (C1-2A). A concrete drop box will be located at the outlet of the half-
culvert, C1-4, to allow the flow from the half-culvert and Cl-2A to flow into C1-2. Two
concrete thrust blocks will be placed above and below the main access/haul road. A 72"
CMP manhole has been installed for the main hauUaccess road crossing. Flow from C1-3
(currently a surface ADS pipe) will also enter this manhole to flow into CI-1. Three
concrete foundations have been installed where the pipe makes two 90-degree turns and one
45-degree turn. There are also wood timbers that have been placed along the pipe
alignment to anchor the pipe.
MCC is aware that the additional concrete structures to be installed during this project will
increase MCC's reclamation bond liability and will submit an as-built minor revision which
provides dimensions of all the structures.
2. Additional support for C-I corrvevor -Due to the differential movement of the C-1
conveyor (the main conveyor from the portal) an additional support (ground to structure
support) was installed above the four-legged tower located near the substation.
Platform for high voltage tower at serbstatio» -Due to the differential movement within the
substation, a steel platform was placed under one of the incoming high voltage towers to
level the tower. The scarp which traverses through the substation was also filled in with soil
and gravel materials.
4. Installation of a rock/terrsar buttress below middle mine access road - A portion of the
middle mine access road below the shop building failed. MCC has installed a rock/tensar
buttress below the road in the area of the failure. A keyway was constructed and was filled
with large cobble and screened rock placed over the cobble. A four inch discharge pipe was
installed in the buttress to drain water. The buttress was built in three foot lifts with tensar
placed between each lift. Each lift was compacted. Following construction of the buttress
the road was regraded and resurfaced with road-base material. Upon reclamation the
buttress will remain.
MB-I/F'W--/ discharge culverts replaced below the screeningplanf -While working to
extend the RCC buttress below the screening plant (discussed as item 7 below), it was
discovered that the culverts in this area, which route discharge water from MB-1 and FW-1
to the river (CI-5) had pulled apart. MCC has replaced the underground culverts (below S-
1conveyor) from the concrete drop box to above the stacktubes access/haul road with a 30-
inch ADS pipe laid on the surface of the RCC buttress. The outlet of the pipe then will flow
into a new 48-inch CMP under the road and down to the river. The old CMPs were filled
with flow-fill.
6. Underground water lure replaced from raw water intake gallery to FW-/ with NDPE pipe
laid on the surface - It was also discovered in the area of the RCC buttress below the
screening plant, that the water line that takes water from the raw water intake gallery
