Bob Oswald
Re: PRELIMINARY Sunday Maps
3. SUNDAY MINE, PERMIT M-1977-285, 1" = 100'.
This is the detail map of the Sunday Mine showing all pertinent features and
disturbances. We have left the underlying topo contours on in the background.
The surveyed elevations do not match precisely to the topo map elevations, but are
they are generally close (this comment applies to all of the detail mine maps). All of
the surveyed lines are correct in their relative elevation to each other. Therefore, these
maps can be used to approximate volumes in storage piles and to determine grades and
slope angles as needed. When we tie the contours back into existing drainages for
final reclamation depiction, this will require a bit of adjusting, but I think this is very
manageable.
As noted under item #1 above, I do not have an Affected Area boundary for the
Sunday Mine. We need to resolve this and agree on corners so I can arrange to get the
corners established in the field.
CARNATION MINE, PERMIT M-1977-416, 1" = 100'.
On this map we have shown the Affected Area boundary. This is the same boundary
as presently is portrayed on the maps now on file for Permit M-1977-416. We will
mark these boundary corners in the field; this work will be done in conjunction with
other surveying work in the area.
As has been noted in past correspondence regarding the Carnation Mine, some of the
disturbances and structures on the north end of the Permit are "pre-law'. I would like
to resolve this matter so that we have a clear record of what is included under the
Carnation Permit.
5. ST. JUDE MINE, PERMIT M-1978-039 HR, 1" = 100'.
As noted above for the Carnation Mine, the Affected Area corners shown on the St.
Jude map will be marked in the field, as requested by the Division.
6. WEST SUNDAY MINE, PERMIT M-1981-021, 1" = 100'.
The Affected Area boundary shown on this map is an approximation of the original
boundaries of the tunnel site claims. An accurate location of the tunnel site claims
could not be determined with available information. IUSA has no records on the
original location of the tunnel site claims and no survey info to accurately locate them.
I included the Affected Area boundary on this map for discussion purposes only; this
boundary is not, at this time, intended to represent the proper location of the Affected
Area boundazy.
The original hand-drawn topography maps submitted with the West Sunday Permit
application have estimated beazings and distances to a section corner. These
directions and distances are not very close to the actual locations. We attempted to
locate the tunnel site claims by assuming that the portal is a fixed point, but when
doing this, other features at the site do not align. We were not even able to closely
