~J
Table 1-1 Land Ownership Status.
County Federal Land (miles) Private Land (stiles)
Rio Blanco County 20 5
Garfield County 0 19
Total (44) 20 24
With the exception of the pipeline corridor section from the Piceance Site to the
existing natural gas gathering line corridor (approximately 6 miles) and the
section off the east face of Davis Point (approximately 3 miles), no new pipeline
corridors are proposed. Minor realignments may be required during final design
to avoid geologic hazazds, topographical constraints, and environmentally
sensitive areas.
1.2 Pipeline Permitting
American Soda submitted a commercial mine plan for the Yankee Gulch Project
to the BLM in August 1998. The BLM is the lead federal agency for developing
the Yankee Gulch Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), a draft of
which has been prepazed by a third-party EIS contractor, Woodward-Clyde
Consultants (Woodward-Clyde). Permitting of the pipelines will be completed as
part of the permitting of the overall Yankee Gulch Project and will be covered in
the Final EIS.
Several environmental studies were completed for the Yankee Gulch Project
commercial mine plan. The studies included the pipeline corridor to the extent
determined to be appropriate in consultation with the BLM. Resource studies
completed for the project aze indicated in Table 1-2.
Table 1-2 Pipeline Corridor Resource Studies.
LJ
Study Contractor
Archaeological/cultural resources inventory Grand River Institute
Raptor nesting survey Cedar Creek Associates
Threatened/endangered plant survey Western Slope Environmental
Wetlands inventory/delineation Steigers Corporation
Pipeline Plan of Development 3
Yankee Gulch Sodiwn Minerals Project
Amerian Soda, LLP.
