Currently, there is no formal access to the lower end of Hatch. Gulch. However,
existing jeep trails can be used to access the valley floor. During initial
construction, a construction ROW will be cleared that will effectively allow
access to the Hatch Gulch valley bottom for a distance of approximately 5 miles.
The upper end of Hatch Gulch is accessible by several roads that were constructed
to access oil and gas facilities in and azound Hatch Gulch.
The Collins Gulch reach is readily accessible by use of Rio Blazico County Road 3,
which follows Collins Gulch from Rio Blanco County Road 5 to the Greasewood
Compressor Station. No new temporary access roads are :mticipated for this
reach.
The majority of land in Stewart Gulch is privately owned, anti amens to this area
is controlled by Gerald Oldland. Negotiations aze currently tmderway with Mr.
Oldland regazding acquisition of ROW. It is anticipated that access to Stewart
Gulch will be available at this location and that e~dsting roads will be used to
construct the pipeline from the second Piceance Creek crossing south to the base
of Barnes Ridge.
The Barnes Ridge portion of the pipeline corridor is approximately 7 miles long.
Access to the northern or lower end of Barnes Ridge is available via the Oldland
property as desrnbed above. However, access up to the top of Barnes Ridge
would be limited to 4-wheel-drive vehicles and would preclude semi-trailers
hauling pipe. Therefore, access to the southern (upper) end of Barnes Ridge and
Davis Point would likely occur via Sprague Gulch Road, which may be accessed
from Rio Blanco County Road 5 approximately 4 miles east of the Oldland access.
This road has previously been used to haul pipe for natural gas pipelines
installed on Barnes Ridge.
The reach from the Pazachute Site north to the base of Davis Point is readily
accessible by Garfield County Road 215. Access to the pipeline corridor section
east of Davis Point is available from the private road owned by Exxon
Corporation.
" No construction activities will occur when the soil is too wet to .adequately
support vehicles and/or equipment. ff equipment creates exa~sive rutting of the
access roads, operation of such equipment will cease. Public access and livestock
control will be maintained during construction.
3.1.5 Special Work Areas
• Temporary Use Areas: Temporary Use Areas (TCJAs), which are
equipment "set-up" areas for difficult sections of the pipeline corridor, aze
required to efficiently install the pipelines. Each TUA will usually
involve 1 additional acre located immediately adjacent to the 125-foot-
wide construction easement. TUAs will be required neaz road crossings,
rv,~ of oe„ao~m~ 12
Ypnkee Guld~ Sodiw~ ~m~i. Project
AmQinn Sods, LLP.
