.._
Mr. P.E. Thomsen -2- March 30.. 1983
A. Permit #I7-345, Boettcher Sandstone Quarry
1. The bond for this 9 acre site is at $2,500.00, the original bond
amount approved by the Board at the time of permit approval (ie.
1978). With 6-7 acres disturbed as of the last annual report
(October 1982) and no reclamation feasible until the entire 9
acre area has been mined, the Division feels the $2,500.00 is
insufficient to reclaim the area. Therefore, the Division will
recommend bond increased to $5,000.00 (the maximum allowed under
the current legislation).
Enclosed are new financial and performance warranties that need
to be signed, notorized, and returned to this office.
B. Permit #77-346, Goodwin Gypsum Quarry
1. The annual report submitted in October 1982 specifies seven
acres will be backfilled and planted in the coming year (ie.
1983). The Uivision assumes these seven acres (and any other
areas where mining is completed) will be reclaimed this Spring
per the Soil Conservation Services' recommendation (per Exhibit
E - Reclamation Plan of the approved permit document).
2. If no new areas were disturbed and the seven acres referenceri
above are reclaimed, there would then only be 33 acres
disturbed. If there are only 33 acres disturbed, the Division
feels the current financial warranty of $38,000.00 (or $1,15?.00
per acre) is sufficient. However, if there are more than 33
acres disturbed, then, the bond will have to be upwardly
adjusted.
C. Permit #77-347, Slab Canyon Limestone Quarry
1. Due to the mining plan being followed, little of the 25 acre
parcel can be reclaimed until all quarrying is completed.
Maximum disturbance for this permit is 30 acres, all of whirr,
as of October 1982, have been bonded for.
The current bond for this area is $21,500.00 or $716.67 per
acre. The Division feels this financial warranty amount is
inadequate. In order to be consistent with the financial
warranty for permit #77-346, the bond amount will have to be
increased to $34,560.00 ($1,15L.00 per acre).
Enclosed are new financial and performance warranties that need
to be signed, notorized,•and returned to this office.
