Report on Cement Kiln Dust Testing, Tire Derived Fuel Trial Burn, Cemex,
Inc., Lyons Cement Plant, Permit No. M-77-208; Prepared by Banks and
Gesso LLC, Scott Klingensmith (Flatirons Toxicology), and Richard Henry
(IJRS Corporation); Report dated September 5, 2003 (sic), (received by DMG
September 4, 2003).
2. Human Health Evaluation of Cement Kiln Emissions from Coal
Supplemented with NaturalGas and Coal Supplemented with Tires, CEMEX
Inc. Cement Plant, Lyons Colorado: Report prepared for CEMEX, Inc. by
Flatirons Toxocology, Inc., Report dated March 21, 2003 (received by DMG
June 16, 2003).
Source Emissions Testing Report, CEMEX - TDF/Coal Demonstration Tests,
Lyons Colorado Cement Plant, Kiln Stack: PM, HCI, PCDDs/PCDFs, PCBs,
PAHs, Multiple Metals, Aldehydes, Trace Organics; prepare by Joby
Dumnire, Air Pollution Testing, Inc, Report dated March 24, 2003 (received
by DMG June 16, 2003).
These documents describe and synthesize the results of laboratory testing of cement kiln
dust (CKD) using combinations of coal, natural gas and tires as fuels for cement
manufacturing. The combined purposes of these reports were to measure air emissions
and water quality that might derive From use of these fuels, to identify potential toxicants,
and to evaluate levels of potential environmental exposure.
DMG's interest in these reports is limited generally to the potential for groundwater
contamination, not air quality.
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
