Construction. Drain Cover Fill Thickness on Roads Used By Contractor's Haul
Trucks.
Dear Mr. Keffelew:
The Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company ("CC&V") has considered the review
comments dated September 11, 1996 that address the referenced subject and which you kindly
transmitted this morning. CC&V appreciates the information.
In response and in view of the need to initiate the measures now, CC&V can accept the six (6)
provisions listed in the September 11, 1996 memorandum you forwarded this morning.
Specifically, these six provisions might reduce to five (5) and call for:
1. Use of 45 inches of either Drain Cover Fill or Low Volume Solution Collection
System Fill for the haul routes used by the contractor's truck-tractor side dump units.
(This is an increase of three inches over the 42 inches proposed by CC&V in its letter
of August 26, 1996.)
2. The 45 inch thickness is to be maintained, especially in wet weather when hauling
is to be suspended to allow adding material to the road should rutting under saturated
conditions cause there to be less than 45 inches in the roadway.
3. When operating on less than a 5 foot-thick roadway, the loaded side dump units are
not to execute turns of a diameter less than We length of the tractor-trailer unit. Once
unloaded, the turn radius may decrease.
4. When operating on roadways of less than 5 feet thickness of roadway, the tractor-
trailer unit shall not brake abruptly.
