The project azea is not within any designated roadless azeas, therefore there will be no <br />effect on this circumstance. <br />6: Native American Religious or Cultural Sites, or Areas -The project was reviewed by <br />the Forest Archaeologist. No Native American Religious or Cultural Sites or Areas were <br />found. Therefore, there will be no effect on this circumstance. <br />7: Archaeological Sites or Historic Properties or Areas - In a letter dated June 24, 2005, <br />the Forest Archaeologist referenced a 100% cultural resource survey that was performed <br />at the project site on August 25, 1992. No historic properties were found. The 6/24/2005 <br />letter confines that the Sulphur Ranger District has complied with Section 106 of the <br />National Historic Preservation Act. There is no potential to affect historic properties or <br />archaeological sites or azeas; therefore, there will be no effect on this circumstance. <br />III. OTHER RESOURCES <br />A. Noxious Weeds <br />Two species of noxious weeds were found within the South Fork Pit, likely introduced <br />during Phase I Operations. Species found were Oxeye daisy (Chrysantheum <br />leucanthemum L.) and Canada thistle (Circium arvense (L.) Scop). Permit requirements <br />will include noxious weed prevention and treatment. <br />B. Recreation <br />The South Fork Pit is near the South Fork Campground, and in an azea used by dispersed <br />campers. Noise and traffic from the operations could be disturbing to Forest users. <br />Permit requirements will be implemented to reduce potential conflicts. <br />C. Permitting required by other agencies <br />Prior to begimring operations, GCRB will obtain required permits from other agencies, <br />including: <br />==`•~Coloiado Division of Minerals and Geology <br />• Grand County Department of Planning and Zoning <br />D. Public Safety <br />Public access to the South Fork Pit will be restricted by use of a gate, to be installed by <br />GCRB, which will be posted with appropriate signage in accordance with standards to be <br />provided by the Forest Service. Appropriate traffic warning signs will be installed on <br />NFSR's. <br />
