Production
The production standazd will also be the same for the reclaimed AVF vegetation types. Again,
the standazd will be determined using the AVF reference areas. Production will be 90 percent of
the reference area at the time of revegetation success analysis (see Table 10).
Shrub Density
As shown on Table 10, there is no shrub standazd for the three vegetation types. The shrub
standazd of 333 stems/acre which existed for the rangeland/wildlife habitat type was eliminated
through approval by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Habitat enhancement of other areas in
the National Forest were conducted as an alternative to attempting to establish shrubs on the
reclaimed areas.
Noxious Weed Control
A noxious weed control program has been implemented at the Chimney Rock Mine. This
program will include an annual inspection during early summer, and if infestations aze observed,
a spraying program will be conducted. Recommended spraying with 1.5 pints Banvel and 3
quarts 24-D per acre, when Canada Thistle is in full bolt to 25 percent bloom should control the
infestation. Other sprays will be utilized as appropriate for other noxious species. An annual
report of the survey and actions taken will be submitted.
TABLE 10 Summary of Revegetation Standards:
Dryland Pasture
Species
Irrigated Pasture
3 cool season perennial grass
1 perennial forb
Cover
90% of reference area
Production
90% of reference area
Rangeland/Wildlife
2 cool season perennial grass
1 warm season perennial grass
1 perennial forb
90% of reference area
90% of reference area
5
Same as Dryland
Pasture
90% of dryland Pasture
reference azea
90% of dryland pasture
reference area
