Ore Control Manual page 4 <br />(This means that the ore is high-copper and goes to a <br />special place depending on if Iow-grade oz• high-grade <br />flagging is on the stake with it.) <br />Ore perimeter flagging is tied to lath stakes. Stakes are placed <br />in pairs with the ore perimeter line running through the waste <br />stakes and ore offset on the ore side. The flagging color shows <br />what ore type is on each side of the line (see Figure 2). <br />K. Mining and stockpiling: all mining of waste and ors is done by <br />Mine Operations. Mine Operations follows the mine plan as directed <br />by Mine Engineering. Mining progress is surveyed by Mine <br />Engineering. Bench grade is monitored by the Mine Shift Foremen <br />during the mining shift. Corrections are made by Mine Operations. <br />Mining at bad bench grades leads to dilution or loss of ore. <br />Mining at the correct bench grade is critical to minimize dilution <br />and/or loss! <br />waste material is shipped to a waste dump. Sub-glade ore is <br />shipped to the sub-grade stockpile by the parking ditch. All other <br />ore types are shipped to the run-of-mine stockpile (ROM; and dumped <br />in separate areas for blending. Ore will be shi)sped during <br />daylight hours only, to minimize dilution and loss, except in <br />emergencies. The Mine Geologist will be notified cf any non- <br />daylight ore shipments. The Mine Geologist active:.y monitors <br />dilution (see L.) <br />Mine Operations is provided with color copies of a <br />destination/blending map (see Fig. 3). The map is color-coded to <br />show where ore types are to be dumped or stockpiled. The same <br />color code that is used in the mine to mark ore types is used on <br />the maps, and on any stakes that may be used on the ROK. <br />L. Mill feed and blending: the actual feeding of the mill is done <br />by Mill Operations. The loader operator follows a bending map <br />made by the Mine Geologist (see Figure 3). The blendinc'map is the <br />same map given to Mine Operations for stockpiling ore, but has <br />directions on how and what to blend. The blending map has ore type <br />locations shown and how much of each ore type to blend. The <br />purpose of blending is to provide the mill with a consistent feed. <br />A consistent feed helps the Mill Operations group effi~:iently run <br />the mill. Gold grade, copper grade, and rock character are some of <br />the factors considered in deciding how the rock is ble~ided. <br />M. Dilution control and check sampling: dilution of ore is <br />monitored by the Mine Geologist. Information from pi.t mapping, <br />check samples on ore and waste, observations of mining, and ore <br />perimeter layout is used by the Mine Geologist to help make <br />dilution as small as possible. <br />Rev. 4/20/93 <br />
