ore Control Ma:tual page 3
appearance, and will be used for rough ore perimeter projections
and crosschecks.
E. Blasthole sample assay: all blastholes are assayed by the
Assay Lab for gold. A one assay-ton fire assay is used. Alternate
AA assay methods may be developed in the future. Se:.ected holes
(see C.) are analyzed for cyanide-soluble copper using special wet-
chem preparation and standard AA analysis. Assay result sheets are
delivered to Mine Engineering as soon as available.
F, Assay bench plots: Mine Engineering combines blast hole survey.
and assay data to produce a pattern map showing gold and copper
distribution. Additional information that is plotted o.i the
pattern maps includes topography, exploration drilling composite-
assay values, and projected ore perimeters. The Mine Geologist
reviews rep samples of exploration holes within the pat~:ern to help
determine what rack and mineralization types fall within the
pattern. This information can be helpful in dilution/loss work
later during mining.
G. Ore perimeter development: using the pattern map, Mine
Engineering will determine ore types and waste in t:ie pattern.
Each ore type is outlined by a perimeter. Tonnages and grade o=
each ore type are developed from the pattern maps and are noted on
the map.
H. Ore control maps: copies of the pattern map are made and
color-coded (see Fig. 1). The color-coded maps are to direct the
loader operators when digging or mucking any material. Anv ore
control changes are to be done through the Mine Geologist. The
Mine Geologist will document all ore control changes with
supporting data (see Figure 5.).
I. Blasting: the Blasting Contractor, with assistancEa from Mine
ops, carries out the blasting procedure, as per established company
policy.
J. Ore perimeter flagging: using survey data from the pattern map,
Mine Engineering stakes out the ore type perimet=_rs. ore
perimeters are flagged with survey ribbon according to the
following colors after the blast:
1) blue flagging: waste side
2) yellow flagging: sub-grade
(Ore from these areas goes to the sub-grade srockpile by
the parking ditch.)
3) orange flagging: low-grade
4) pink/black flagging: high-grade
5) green flagging: high-copper
Rev. 4/201 93
