The Trinidad City water main parallels highway 12 and lies
outside of the affected area.
5) Septic Systems and Sewer lines. Not applicable, none
are known to exist within the affected area.
6). Propane Tanks. Not applicable, none are known to exist
within the affected area:
7). Aquifers. No aquifers that are of beneficial use lie
within the affected area. There are no significant aquifers
known to exist within the affected area.
S) Wells are shown on Map 8, Regional Hydrology. None of
the wells are believed to lie within the area to be affected
by mining.
9) The Purgatorie River Alluvial Valley Floor (AVF) is a
Renewable Resource area. The AVF lies within an area of
limited extraction and is protected by a Subsidence Control
Plan.
(b) Description of the worst possible consequences of
subsidence within the permit and adjacent area.
(i)(A) A brief description of pre- and postmining land use
is shown on Map 4 Premine Land Use, and Map 12, Post Mine
Land Use, and in section 2.04.3 of the permit.
(i)(B) No subsidence is anticipated from mining within
areas of limited (less than 50~) extraction. Subsidence
Monitoring of mining in the Third North Mains has
documented that no subsidence occurred from limited
extraction mining within this area.
Monitoring of the Northwest #1 Longwall panel has determined
that subsidence will occur as a result of longwall mining.
Mining at depths of 500-700 from the surface has resulted in
subsidence of 4.5-6.5 feet over the center of the panel.
The angle of draw cited for Western Coal mines is 15°-25°
and for the Raton Basin, 16°= (Mining Engineering Handbook,
p. 950). Monitoring data for the NW#1 panel indicates that
the angle of draw may exceed this range. Additional
monitoring to provide better resolution and more accurately
define the angle of draw is planned for the Northwest #2
longwall panel.
(i)(C) Brief description of material subsidence damage or
diminution of reasonably foreseeable use of structures and
renewable resource lands resulting from the occurrence of
subsidence related phenomena:
2.05-49
(Revised 1-17-94)
~~ ~~
