Reclamation Project
Thank you for your interest and attendance to the GEC\East Pit Coal
Reclamation Project pre-bid meeting held on January 11, 1994. The
following clarifications and amendments should be incorporated into
the Invitation and Bid document.
While blasting has not been specifically addressed in this bid
document, it will be acceptable to incorporate it into the
overall earth moving plan provided that the CONTRACTOR
receives prior approval from the OWNER by providing the OWNER
with a detailed blasting plan together with evidence that the
necessary permits and insurance have been obtained. A primary
concern is the close proximity of an active coal mine
facility.
In reference to Task 2-Chen's Hill Reduction Scope of Work and
Work Description shall be modified to include the following;
the road around Chen's Hill will not be eliminated. The
CONTRACTOR may move the road slightly closer to the fence, if
possible, to gain a few extra feet for the outslope reduction
and drainage ditch number 1.
On the east side of Chen's Hill, if the CONTRACTOR determines
that it is necessary to cover some previously reclaimed areas
to economically achieve the outslope grading requirements,
then the CONTRACTOR must first strip and stockpile existing
topsoil for later replacement.
In reference to Task 4-Chen's Hill Topsoil Replacement Work
Description shall be modified to include the following; the
topsoil and overburden growth medium which is located in the
topsoil stockpile located above the drainage on the east side
of Chen's Hill and the two stockpiles located on the north
side of Chen's Hill must be evenly replaced on the outslopes
having a finished grade to a depth of 6 inches. Outslopes
adjacent to the road around Chen's Hill is of primary concern.
